Q. What is the Bible, and why do you read it?

A. The Bible is a living collective Book of historical documents written by men who were inspired by God’s Holy Spirit. These words could have only been written by the Spirit of God, and they teach us how to live. If you’re a writer, then you’re inspired by something. You can feel it. These men were inspired by God. The Bible’s already been written, but we should all be inspired by God to use our talents.

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:16

Q. Who is the Bible for?

A. The Bible is for everyone. Christians weren’t Christians before we chose to be Christians. We weren’t just reading the Bible for no reason. We had some form of encounter with God (through someone praying for us, through a nudging in our spirit, God touching our hearts, instantly, or some other personal way). When we had the encounter, we chose to believe that Jesus is real and the He’s the Son of God.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 3:16

Q. Do people become Christians because their Pastor tells them to be one?

A. No one can make you become a Christian. God’s infinitely smarter than that and knows the heart of every man, so you can’t fake it with Him. We have to choose to become a follower of Christ because we want to know Him, and realize that, not only is He the One who had our lives fully planned out before we were born, but He died for all of us to save us from the evil one, the devil (Satan).

For I know the thoughts I think towards you, says the Lord; thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Jeremiah 29:11

Q. How do you become a follower of Jesus?

A. Believe in Him. Admit that you’re a sinner, and choose to believe that He died on the cross for your sins, too. Then, choose to be baptized. Reading His Word and doing what It says and by saying “Yes” to the guidance of His Holy Spirit proves to Him that you love Him.

Be doers of the Word, not just hearers only, otherwise you’ll be deceiving your own selves.

James 1:22

Q. Is Christianity a cult?

A. No. Christianity is not a cult. It’s not even a religion. A cult is when a man or woman presents himself to his followers as if he (or she) has all the answers (or are god) and their followers must listen to them or something bad will happen to them. The Bible never speaks on this. People believed Jesus was God and not some cult leader because He performed miracles, signs, and wonders, He spoke with authority, and He was made famous by eyewitnesses that He was indeed the Messiah.

Being a Christian, or a follower of The Way, which is Christ, we are not to follow man but Jesus who instructs us through His Word. Pastors are meant to help lead us to Jesus. We are to follow them. No Pastor should be boasting about himself more than he boasts about Jesus or just as much.

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no one comes to the Father, but by me.”

John 14:6

Q. How do I know it’s God talking to me?

A. First, God speaks to you through His Word. If you hear God, when He speaks to you, He won’t tell you to do anything that goes against His Word. The only way to know if what you’re hearing is matching up is to read the Bible is to read It. Also, having His Holy Spirit leading you is the biggest help you can receive outside of what His Word says. The Bible is alive. It’s not a dead book. It can and will speak to you and your life experiences, but you have to be willing to see and hear what the Lord is saying, not only for you but about loving Him and others.

For the Word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword…

Hebrews 4:12

Q. Isn’t the Bible for old people or for people who are scared to believe that nothing will happen when they die?

A. No, the Bible is for everyone – even you. The Bible is for the whole world – Krishna, Hindu, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, for all people and all religions. Jesus says that God gave His only Begotten Son so the world, through Jesus, might be saved, and those who choose to believe will not perish but will live life with Him, in Eternity. The Bible is for anyone who wants to be saved.

He who believes in Jesus is not condemned; but He who doesn’t believe is condemned already because He has not believed in the Name of the only Begotten Son of God.

John 3:18

Q. If God planned out our lives, already, then why do people go to Hell?

A. Listening to God and His plan is a choice. God’s guidance changes us. Most people know that we’re spiritual beings, yet many people live their whole lives learning about Jesus and who He created them to be. We have to be willing to submit to God when someone tells us about Him or when He speaks to us.

Most people reject messages from God. Some are told to pray or give their lives to Christ, and they never do it. When we reject God, we reject Him. We have no idea who we’re rejecting. Because of that rejection, we cannot live in Heaven with Him. We didn’t want Him on Earth. Why would it be fair to Him to allow you to be with Him in Heaven when you haven’t changed? But, God can save anyone who wants to be saved.

Who then can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible..

Mark 10:26-27
